Thomas’ Obituary Thomas Edward Goldthwaite, 92, passed Friday, May 3, 2019. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son to the late Francis Howard and Eleanor Catherine (Van Oss) Goldthwaite. He proudly served his country in the Army and was stationed in the Philippine’s and Korea.

Tom was a retired truck driver driving for Commercial Motor Freight of Indiana and Dana Truck Fleet. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. Tom recently lost his loving and devoted wife of 73 years this January Donna Jean (Voirol) Goldthwaite.

They retired in Florida and have spent 32 years there. They started volunteering for the hospitals in Florida area, they loved to go out and go square dancing. Tom always greeted you with a warm smile, he didn’t know a stranger.

In their community he was always busy lending a hand to a friend or with the club house; he was head of the Pancake Breakfast. Tom was such a great handy man he even built the club house a new garage. He enjoyed calling out the numbers for bingo.

Tom would even sneak in a mid day nap, so he could enjoy sitting in the driveway with his wife and chatting with the neighbors as the passed by. Tom is survived by son and daughter in law, Steve and Sheila Goldthwaite of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Andrea (Michael) King; and a great grand pup, Molly. Tom was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, Marian Kreigh, Francis Fletcher, Patricia Stevens, Edith Lloyd, Murray Goldthwaite and Jackson Goldthwaite.

Celebration of Tom’s Life is 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior to the service. Preferred memorials are to the Allen County SPCA, 4914 Hanna St., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46806.
