Thomas Edward Scott, our shining star and light, left this world unexpectedly Friday morning after a brave fight with an acute illness. Thomas had the kindest heart, most infectious smile, biggest bear hugs, and a laugh that beamed as bright as his bigger than life personality. Thomas touched so many lives with his loving heart and warm, caring, outgoing personality.

He was extremely social and never met a stranger in his life. Thomas was born in Mesa, AZ. Thomas became our forever family when he was three days old and was the cutest little bundle of joy, light, and love.

His family was lucky and blessed to have such a special addition that added so much life into their world. Thomas grew up in Crescent City, Ca and Susanville, CA where he made many lifetime friends who adore him. He adored singing and was in the Best of Broadway in high school.

Thomas had a passion for helping others and for learning. He was extremely bright and articulate. He learned American Sign Language as a second language during college.

He volunteered for the Special Olympics. His passion for helping others and learning led to him obtaining a bachelor’s in psychology and three master’s in Psychology Degree with honors. He planned on obtaining his Doctorate in Psychology and teaching children in Korea.

He loved being immersed in culture and diversity. Thomas was a champion of injustice and wanted to champion the world in human rights. He helped streamline the way for individuals who had disabilities to assure they received help in pursuing their college degrees and careers as their biggest supporter.

The project he was finishing for the California Department of Rehabilitation will be utilized as a model all over the world. He was loved by his coworkers and clients almost as much as he loved each and every one of them. Each client he had he felt such compassion for he would literally cry if he was unable to help them move forward with their lives.

Thomas is survived by his loving parents Curtis and Daphne Scott, his older brother John Scott and his children Nicholas and Emilie Scott, his sister Elizabeth Scott and her children Dominick and Lexy Scott. He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and his friends who got to know this special person. He will be sorely missed by all who had the chance to know and love him.

A memorial service was held at the Ed Roberts Campus Tuesday May 3 from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers or donations please leave a memory, picture or your thoughts for his family to reflect on and remember to be kind to and appreciate everyone in your life. Thank you for being a part of our special spirit’s life.
