Obituary for Mr. Thomas George “Tom” Whaley age 85, of Starke Mr. Thomas George “Tom” Whaley age 85, of Starke passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a brief illness. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Archie and Ann Marie (Putkela) Whaley. Mr. Whaley retired in 1994 after being a banker for 40 years.
He was a resident of Tampa before he and his wife moved to Starke 25 years ago. Tom was a member of Kingsley Lake Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He was also the Financial Secretary & Association Clerk with the New River Baptist Association in Starke.
A veteran of the US Navy, Tom loved his church and was a devoted family man. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Malkowski and Pat Foor. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara W. Whaley of Starke; daughters, Lynn Whaley of Starke, Kelli Luke (Danny) of Starke, Jana Revels (Jerry) of Starke, and Mindi Raymond (John) of Valrico; and sisters, MaryAnn DeMartino of Michigan, and Peggy Murphy of Tampa.
Also left are his grandchildren, Erin Waters (Lamar), Josh Luke (Shelley), Kaitlyn Nicula (John), Jolee Lee (Timothy), Jerrica Castellon (David), Jaren Melvin (Brad), Jacie Bias (Jeremy), Jake Sansom, Kyle Sansom, Tyler Raymond, Trevor Raymond, and Tanner Raymond; great grandchildren, Kale Waters, Kanaan Waters, Kyson Waters, Raegan Luke, Judson Luke, Baylor Nicula, Brix Nicula, Kayden Lee, Koleson Lee, Paislee Sapp, and Layla Castellon; and along with many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at DeWitt C. Jones Chapel on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Friday, April 27, 2018 at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Rodriguez, Pastor Zeb Cook, and Pastor Ron Kimbrell officiating.
