Thomas Gerald Dibble , September 12, 1942 — December 21, 2018

Dibble, Thomas G. Age 76 of Somerville, NJ. Formerly of Edina, MN. On December 21, 2018, Tom Dibble passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born to Jerry and Shirley Dibble on September 12, 1942, the second of four children. A proud Edina Morningside resident, Tom graduated from Edina High School in 1960 and attended The University of Minnesota Duluth, where he graduated in 1964 and was commissioned in the Air Force. He earned his Masters in Public Administration in 1978. In 1982, Tom married Sandy, lived in Virginia for twelve years, and finally settled in New Jersey in 1994. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Eagle Scout, veteran, and tireless champion for many causes.

He was a devoted member of United Reformed Church in Somerville, Room for All, Mended Hearts of Morris County, and Boy Scout Troop 84. In his professional life, Tom worked for the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, the Administrative Offices of Alabama and Minnesota Courts, the National Center for State Courts, and the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage. Tom is preceded in death by parents, Jerry and Shirley (nee Trepanier).

He will always be loved and missed by his wife of 36 years, Sandra (nee Girkins); children, Kelly, Scott (Richard Leyva), Deanna (Hans) West, Carolyn (Charles) Kobernat; Christopher (Bonnie), Benjamin (Breanna); granddaughter, Samantha; great-granddaughter, Haley Baird Dibble; siblings, Kathleen (Mel) Saterbak, Charles (Kathy), and Donald (Barbara). A celebration of Tom’s life will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, Feb 2, 2018 at United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville, NJ 08876. Visit one hour prior at the church.

In Minnesota, a celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date. Interment will follow in the Spring at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Room for All (roomforall.com) or United Reformed Church (urcsomerville.org).
