Thomas Kenneth Smith slipped away from this life on April 27, 2019 to scout for another mountain to hunt. Tom was born to goodly parents, Kenneth Orin Smith and Carol Louise Johnson on April 8, 1954 in Salt Lake City Utah. He was the second of three children and was referred to by his mother as her beautiful boy.

He was the handsome one in the family with all the hair even as he grew old. He was raised in Layton and then raised his family there till 2012. As a young man he learned to work.

He first picked cherries in the summer in Farmington. Once he turned 16 he worked at the HAFB Officer’s Club as a busboy. When he graduated from Layton High School he joined the United States Air Force.

After his honorable discharge he became an early riser to work at water treatment equipment manufactures to support his family. As a boy Tom fell in love with fishing, hunting and camping. He spent countless days with his dad and family on the lakes or in the mountain above Randolph.

The deer hunt soon became the most exciting time of the year for him. If he had to choose between Christmas and deer hunting, he would pick hunting. When Tom fell in love with something, he was happy and didn’t need look any further.

Tom met the love of his life Carol Lynn Campbell in 1975. He truly loved her and she became the most important thing in his life. We know this because that October he married her in the Salt Lake Temple on the second weekend of the Deer Hunt.

He and Carol had four children and two granddaughters which increased the most important treasures of his life. One would seldom see Tom without his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Theodore (Brenda), daughter Teresa, son Travis, and daughter Tasha (Cody), granddaughters Shelby and Sherrilyn.

He is also survived by his sister Debra Nelson and brother John Smith as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Ward Chapel located at 315 Chelemes (2200 South), Clearfield Utah, 84015. Friends may visit the family Tuesday April 30, from 6 – 8 PM at Aarons Mortuary, 1050 S State St. Clearfield, Utah and Wednesday May 1st from 9:30 to 10:45 at the ward.
