Obituary for Thomas Maxon Hunter THOMAS MAXON HUNTER June 23, 1936 – January 3, 2019 God called his child, Thomas, home on January 3, 2019. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a true gentle man.

His shining smile and generous heart will live on in all who had the privilege to know and love him. Tom was born on June 23, 1936, to Thomas Elton Hunter and Ocie Montese Hunter in Pine Valley, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Roger and Alan Hunter, and a sister Lillian Barkhurst.

He is survived by his loving wife, La Verne Hunter, sons; Joel Hunter of Texas and Martin Hunter of California, his brother Oliver Hunter of Butte, MT and many loving and loved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his step-children; Teresa Berg of Oregon, Kevin Smith of California, Julie Keel of California, and Michael Hamilton of Dillon, Montana. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served in the California Highway Patrol in El Centro, California and Santa Rosa, California areas.

He retired from the CHP after 29 years of service in December 1996. Tom, La Verne and Michael moved to Dillon, Montana in 2006. They love Montana and enjoyed their retirement years together in Dillon, MT.

La Verne and Michael still reside in Dillon, MT and he is sadly missed. There will be no services per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following or charity of your choice.
