He resided in Asheville, NC for a number of years. Thomas was a fun-loving person who enjoyed meeting people.

He always had a smile for everyone he met. He was predeceased by his parents as well as brothers, Walter Lee McClendon, Willie James McClendon, Joe Van McClendon, Larry McClendon, Archie McClendon and Marcus Brewer; sisters, Annie Easter Lilly and Nannie Lou McClendon. He is survived by his sons, Thomas McClendon and Willie McClendon; brother, Brady McClendon, Jr.; sister, Ella Frances Banks; sister-in-law, Alice McClendon; a special friend, Shirley Logan; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, also his step-mother, Mary P. McClendon.
