Longtime Craig resident, Thomas “Tom” Koran, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at Memorial Regional Health in Craig. He was 76.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at Grant Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at St. Michael Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at Craig Cemetery. Thomas Michael Koran was born one of six children to Joseph Andrew and Rose Frances (Perla) Koran on December 14, 1942 in Kenilworth, Utah. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Price, Utah.

Tom graduated from Norte Dame High School with the class of 1961. Shortly after high school, Tom joined the United States Army. He served in Korea and during the Vietnam era.

He was awarded a bronze star and two purple hearts. Tom was honorably discharged in 1965. On Dec.

21, 1963, Tom married Sandra Kaye Kinzy. To this union, three children were born. The couple were married 41 years before Sandra’s passing in 2005.

On May 15, 2017, Tom married Barbara King. The couple enjoyed taking care of one another and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Tom was a truck driver in the oil field for many years.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching old time westerns. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, VFW Post 4265 and the Cooties. More importantly, he was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara Koran; two daughters, Lynnette Koran of Craig and Annie Koran of Steamboat Springs; and five siblings: Mike (Deedee) Koran, Steve (Frieda) Koran, Katie Koran, Dave Koran and Patty (Scott) Olsen. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Koran; one son, Mark Koran; and a granddaughter, Kristine Koran. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Tom’s memory to the VFW Post 4265.
