OBITUARY Thomas Silk April 13, 1936 – November 23, 2018 Longs, SC Thomas Joseph Silk, 82, of Longs SC, formerly of Clinton Corners, New York, died Friday, November 23, 2018 at home. Born on April 13, 1936, in Ossining, New York, Tom was the son of Thomas Joseph Silk, Sr. and Ann Kery Silk, Ossining, New York. Tom attended Stepinac Catholic School in White Plans New York and graduated from Ossining High School in 1953.

Immediately after graduation from high school, Tom enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean War from 1953-1956. On September 12, 1981, Tom married Bonnie J. Perkins Gallagher. Tom worked at IBM Poughkeepsie and Kingston, New York for 35 years.

After Tom’s retirement, they moved to NC and FL, then settled in Longs, SC. After retiring, Tom became an avid golfer, scoring two holes in one during his golfing days. While in New York, Tom was a volunteer fireman for Cedar Grove Fire Department in Saugerties NY and East Clinton Fire Department in Clinton Corners NY.

Tom also volunteered at Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst NC repairing wheelchairs, and volunteered for the American Brittany Rescue while living in FL. Tom is survived by his children, Kevin Silk (Stephanie), Apex NC, and Elaine Shelton (David), Kernersville NC, as well as grandchildren, Heather and Melanie Koskie, Kingston NY and Michael and Anthony Silk, great grandchildren Kiana and Cameron Marshall, Adrienne Castro, and Victoria and Nick Shelton, sister Anne Baccari, Sandy Hook Ct, and several nieces and nephews. Tom also leaves behind Abby, his four-legged furry family member.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, daughter Diane O’Pray (John), Newburgh, NY, brother Brian Silk (Peggy) of Yorktown, NY, and sister Madeline Fiore (Frank) of Ossining, NY. The family will receive friends for a memorial and celebration service at Lee Funeral Home & Crematory, 11840 Highway 90, Little River, SC at 11 am on Friday, March 8, 2019. In accordance with Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
