OBITUARY Thomas “Thom” Joseph Cooney April 3, 1945 – December 20, 2018 Mr. Thomas “Thom” Joseph Cooney, age 73, of Douglasville, GA passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018. He was born April 3, 1945 in Jersey City, NJ. Mr. Cooney proudly served and retired from United States Navy after 26 years.

He loved being at sea and on the water. Thom’s passion was music and radio broadcasting. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Douglasville, GA and was a former Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

Preceding him in death is his mother, Eleanor Cooney; father and step-mother, Joseph “Buddy” and Lillian Esposito Cooney; brother, Robert Cooney and grandson, Bradley Craig. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Cooney; daughters, Michele Craig and Karen (Terry) Wilson; sister, Maryann Fiore; five grandchildren; five nieces and numerous other family members and friends. The family will have a memorial mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 10 o’clock am Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

Interment will take place at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 3 o’clock pm. Those who wish to express condolences or share a special memory may do so online at www.
