Timmy L. Smith, son of Frederick “Gene” and Becky (Lossa) Smith, passed away on Sunday, June 10th at 10:53 a.m. in his Warsaw home. He was 70 years old. Timmy was born on June 23, 1947 in Warsaw and spent much of his youth living in Wyoming.

He graduated there from Cody High School and elected to join the United States Air Force. Timmy Lee Smith entered into the service of his country on July 27, 1966 at age 19 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His initial training was in a Aircraft Maintenance Squadron where he became a skilled airplane mechanic.

His final duty station was that of the 22nd Tactical Recon Squadron based in Mountain Home, Idaho. He was honorably discharged on July 24, 1970. Eventually returning to Warsaw, Timmy worked in construction and for both R.R. Donnelley and Zimmer.

He was married to Phyllis (Scheid) Smith on April 4, 1994. She survives in Warsaw. Timmy was a man of many talents; enjoyed dancing and had even been a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios, at one time.

This was fitting as he was a gymnast in high school. He was an ornery but generous person and loved his grandchildren with every ounce of his being. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters, two sons, 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister-in-law.

Preceding him in death were his parents and twin brother. His family will celebrate his life with a gathering at Warsaw American Legion Post 49, where he was a member. Time and date of the gathering will be announced in the coming days.
