Timothy Allen Shimek October 21, 1957 to October 5, 2018 Preceded in death by mother, Norma Jean Mayer Shimek, son, Ryan and nephew Jason. Survived by his best friend and wife Kathleen, daughters, Rochelle and Carolyn, grandson Vincent, father, Richard H., and siblings, Teri (Chuck) Hare, Debbie (Jay Storm) Shimek, and Richard D. (Barb Huntington) Shimek. Nephews Jeremy (Jayne) May, Shaun (Taylor) Winters and Richard(Erin) Shimek, Great niece Alice, and great nephews James and Oliver.

A 1976 graduate of Riverside High School and the Lake County Joint Vocational School now known as Auburn Career Center. He was employed by May Fran International, as a drafting engineer. Son, grandson, nephew, big brother, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, friend, coworker.

Tim went by many names. His smile, positive attitude even when faced with difficult challenges never seemed to fade. If you found yourself on the receiving end of one of his practical jokes, remember it fondly.

When you least expected it, there was Tim, throwing a basketball on a pole and covering it with a sheet to wave outside a window, or “Creepy Baby” would randomly show up in someone’s house. At eighteen, grandpa Mayer passed away. Tim moved in and took care of grandma.

That was just the kind of guy he was. Grandma wouldn’t fly, they took several bus trips. Meeting many new friends along the way.

July 8, 1989 he married his best friend, Kathleen. One of the happiest days of his life. Followed shortly thereafter when he adopted Ryan and Rochelle.

Making that the second happiest day of his life. Like most couples, Tim and Kathy enjoyed the good times and weathered through the bad times. A part of Tim died the day his son Ryan was hit by a car.

For a long time, his smile was there but it was an empty smile. Then his daughter, Carolyn Rose was born. That full smile was back.

Tim had many hobbies, including remote control boats and planes. A celebration of life for Tim will be held from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Saturday, November 3, at the Hungarian Culture Club, 633 High Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
