OBITUARY Timothy Brian Lindsay December 5, 1946 – January 6, 2019 It’s with a heavy heart that we announce Timothy Brian Lindsay died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday January 6, 2019 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. After beating the odds on more than one occasion, he finally succumbed at the age of 72. With a quick, dry wit, Tim was the life of the party and a great friend to all he met.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Lindsay, his daughters Tracy Lindsay Vasterling (Mary Martin) and Marlo Lindsay Smith, his son-in-law James Smith and his four beautiful grandchildren, Logan, Teresa, Landon and Robert. He is also survived by his wonderful mother-in-law, Eleanor Galassi – whose Italian home cooking he loved the most, his sister-in-law Toni Bartman, his brother-in-law, Randy Bartman and a great gaggle of nieces and nephews. Born in Los Angeles County to a family with roots in the film industry, Tim grew up in Orange County and ended up living his whole life there, happily.
He went to Magnolia High School in Anaheim, graduating in 1965, and went on to take an entry level job with Allergan Pharmaceuticals. During his tenure there, he got his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University. He ultimately spent his entire career at Allergan, advancing up the executive ranks, retiring in 2007.
He loved his job and the opportunities it provided for travel and innovation. He also met his wife Terry there. While no one enjoyed retirement more, his 37 years at Allergan were always a of pride.
Tim loved Orange County, but most specifically, he loved the beach. Surfing, boating, deep sea fishing – anything having to do with the ocean, sand and sun. He also loved his hobbies: golfing with his lifelong friends, USC football, high school reunions, Hawaii, parties, golden retrievers and loved music of all types – but especially anything from James Brown to The Beach Boys.
Not long after retirement, he finally became a member of Club 33, Disneyland’s legendary and exclusive private club and loved spending time with friends and family there. He always liked to joke that he shared the same birthday with Walt Disney and Little Richard and we always thought that said a lot about him. Tim loved and took great pride in the accomplishments of his aunts and uncles.
Uncle Benjamin “Barney” Glazer was one of the 36 founding members of the academy of motion picture arts & sciences. He had a storied career in the film business from the 20s through the 50s, adapting the underlying material that eventually became the powerhouse Rogers & Hammerstein show CAROUSEL and even went on to win three Oscars of his own, the first was for writing the film 7th HEAVEN. Aunt Sharon Lynn was an actress, starting in the silent era and went on to play many varied roles including the villain in the Laurel & Hardy comedy WAY OUT WEST.
Uncle Lou Lindsay was a high level executive at Universal in the 1940s. Aunt Cynthia Lindsay was a famed actress and writer of books and television. Her Malibu parties were legendary and were the of great memories for Tim.
To all who knew him, Tim’s sense of humor and fun was infectious and his loyalty was admired. He was truly a good husband, father and generous friend to everyone. Our loss has left us heartbroken, but we want to make sure his spirit lives on.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony for Tim at 2PM on Saturday, January 12th at Pacific View Mortuary at 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar 92625. Immediately following that will be a reception at Tijeras Creek Golf Course at 29082 Tijeras Creek, Rancho Santa Margarita 92688. We welcome anyone who knew Tim to attend both and help us celebrate his life.
There will be a private burial on Monday, January 14th. His wife and his family want to offer a debt of gratitude to Atria Del Sol assisted living facility in Mission Viejo, as well as companion hospice care, for their kindness, attentiveness and compassion, especially in his final days. It meant the world to all of us.
