Timothy Jay McKeon returned to his Heavenly Home on October 17, 2018. He was born on November 27, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to goodly parents, Howard and Phyllis McKeon. He was raised alongside his four brothers, Howard “Buck”, Joe, John and Monte in Tujunga, CA.

Tim graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1964 and attended college at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brazilian Mission where he learned the Portuguese language and further deepened his devotion to his Savior and those he served. After his mission he continued his education at BYU, and then later at California State University, Northridge when he joined his dad and brothers in their newly created Howard & Phil’s Western Wear business.

Tim married his sweetheart Jan Riding in 1970. He absolutely adored her, and together they raised 4 sons – Rick, Joe, Jared and Monte – in Santa Clarita, Ca. With his brothers, Tim ran the Howard & Phil’s Western Wear business until 1999 when he, Jan, his sons and 2 of his brothers went into the furniture business.

In 2002, Tim moved north to Roseville, Ca. where he continued to work side by side with Jan and their sons. Tim loved his country.

He served six years in the Army National Guard and graduated from Officer’s Candidate School in 1976. Tim was an avid motorcycle and car enthusiast – anything with a motor! He loved riding motorcycles and quads with his boys and taking the family to the sand dunes.

He found joy not only in riding but in the skills and work ethic he was able to teach and instill in his sons. He worked hard and played hard. He had a special affinity for Corvettes – from restoring to driving to showing – he loved everything about them.

His favorite was his 1967 big block Stingray that was affectionately nicknamed “Big Red”. Over the years he loved to watch his sons, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and even his friend’s children play sports. He helped and encouraged them in all of their activities both on and off the field.

He actively supported and personally participated in church youth programs including the Boy Scouts of America. He received the highest Council honor, the Silver Beaver Award, for his distinguished service and leadership to young people. Alongside his sweet wife he encouraged and helped all of his sons (and many others!

) achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Tim’s greatest love was the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was dedicated to his religious beliefs as well as to the people he served and served with.

His service was constant, from seemingly small responsibilities to large and time-consuming callings, including Bishop, Counselor in two Stake Presidencies, and Seminary Teacher. He always gave his all and loved serving those around him. His latest service was with Jan as a Church Service Missionary assisting those suffering from addiction in the Church’s Addiction Recovery Program.

Even in your toughest of times he could put a smile on your face. He was firm but loving and wanted nothing but the best for you. Tim loved his wife, his 4 sons and daughters-in-law, and prized his 12 grandchildren.

His loving guidance, quick wit and presence will be greatly missed by us all. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11AM, with a viewing at 9AM, all at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1240 Junction Blvd, Roseville, CA). Interment on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1pm at Eternal Valley Memorial Park (23287 North Sierra Hwy.

, Newhall, CA 91321). PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (916-725-2109), directors.
