Timothy John Peterson, age 59, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 after a courageous battle to cancer. Tim was born on January 20, 1959 in Escanaba, the son of Owen and Sue (Schuh) Peterson. He grew up in Gladstone and was a 1977 graduate of Gladstone High School.

He married his high school sweetheart, the former Lori Heynssens on September 12, 1981 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. Together, the couple shared 36 years of marriage and raised their son, Sam, who preceded him in death on October 5, 2017 in a tragic car accident. Tim and Lori made their home in Florida where he began a successful business in the door industry.

He owned and operated Commercial Door and Frame until he became ill and could no longer work. Tim loved to entertain his friends and family and was often the life of the party. He had such a generous and giving heart and would give his shirt off his back to anyone.

Tim was a loving husband to Lori, an amazing father to Sam, and a remarkable grandfather to Niya – as she was the light of his life and the apple of his eye. He was also a wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Although his life was cut short by cancer, he lived more in his 59 years than most and will be deeply missed by so many.

Tim is survived by his wife, Lori Peterson of Mount Dora, FL; granddaughter, Niya Peterson of Tavares, FL; father, Owen Peterson of Gladstone; mothers and fathers-in-law, Bob (Joyce) Heynssens of Gladstone, and Gene (Arlene) Mercier of The Villages, FL; sisters, Julie (Steve) Delaire of Gladstone, and Karen (Jim Branstrom) Peterson of Perkins; brother, Terry (Patti) Peterson of Little Canada, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his son, Sam Peterson, Timothy was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Peterson; and several aunts and uncles. A celebration of Tim’s life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Gladstone Yacht Club.
