Tom Felter July 29, 1928 – December 18, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Tom Felter, age 90 a resident of The Moorings in Arlington Heights, IL, died at JourneyCare hospice on December 18th 2018, in Arlington Heights, IL. He was born July 29th 1928 in Walton NY. Tom graduated from Walton High School in 1946 and a year later he started Wheaton College.

He graduated from Wheaton with BA in Bible, in 1952. After Wheaton he spent one year at Faith Seminary in Philadelphia. From there he went back to Wheaton College where he earned a Masters in New Testament in 1960.

In 1969 Tom earned is secound Masters from Roosevelt University in Education Administration. Tom was a very active member in church since he was a teen. He taught Sunday School, was a team leader for Awana and was on boards that help direct the local church.

The last church he was involved with was Willow Creek Community church where he was a a member for decades and worked on the mail team. Tom was a home builder and a craftsman. He built three homes by himself and raised a family in the last house he built in Arlington Hts Il.

Tom’s main career was a Jr. High School teacher where he taught Social Studies and US History. He taught in District 59 for over 40 years and after retiring he was a substitute teacher in the same district until his mid 70’s. He is survived by his daughter Debra Dreyer of Lone Tree, CO, sons Mark (and wife Terri) of Vancouver, Wa and Steve (and wife Sue) of Silver Spring, MD granddaughter Jessica Dreyer of Englewood, CO.

sister-in-law Ruth (and husband Paul) Erdel of Mishawaka, IN, sister-in-law Anita Deyneka of Wheaton, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia, and his parents Tom and Marjorie Felter. His brother Richard Felter and sister Ruth Peck.

Tom’s favorite Verse was Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. His Life Moto: To tell people how to get to Heaven and have a good time getting there. A visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home 304 N.
