Tom’s Obituary Thomas Chalmers Garrett, 88, of Mullins passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. He was born in Nichols on April 19, 1930, the son of the late Thomas C. Garrett and the late Cora Rogers Price Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a public accountant in the Mullins area for many years.

He was a devoted member of the Who-So-Ever-Will Sunday School Class and the Mullins First Baptist Church, where he had served as a choir member, deacon, teacher, and brotherhood leader. A proud member of the United States Navy, he served his country in World War II and in the Korean War. He continued to serve his country and his community as a Past Commander and Life Member of Mullins American Legion Post #89 and as a Life Member of VFW Post 6122.

He was a former member of the Mullins City Council, former member of the Marion County Board of Equalization, past member of several professional accounting organizations and a Life Member of Damascus Lodge No. 161. He was blessed to have overcome a great obstacle in his life and declared he was saved by grace.

Mr. Garrett was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by his brother, Harold Garrett, a half-brother, J.E. Price and a half-sister, Kathleen Price Lewis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Wanda O’Dell Garrett; his children, Thomas M. “Mike” Garrett and wife, Tawnya of Alexandria, VA and Gina Garrett Jones and husband, Tony of Rock Hill, three grandsons, Zachary and Alexander Jones and Kristopher Garrett, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall of Mullins First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church with burial at Jones-Nichols Cemetery.
