Tony Gadberry When Tony Gadberry left us for reasons we will never know or understand, he took with him a piece of each of us who knew and loved him. In this unnatural reordering of things, he left us angered, sad and frustrated, grieving the loss of him and the hopes, dreams and expectations that seemed so bright on his horizon. Anthony Chad-Ernest Gadberry was born in Livingston, Montana, to Rebecca (Carlson) and Sean Alan Gadberry on October 18, 2004.

He died on October 5, 2018. A talented, smart and precocious young man with sparkling brown eyes and a ready smile was quick to laugh with his large and loving family. An eighth-grader at Sleeping Giant Middle School, Tony participated in band and choir.

He had been working diligently with the Sister City Exchange Program, for which he had been chosen to travel to Naganohara, Japan next year. He was one of the many young beneficiaries of the McNair Skatepark, where he spent hours skateboarding with his many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, rafting and camping with his family.

His brother Ivan perhaps best expressed his family’s affections: “I will miss him for the rest of my life and just hope that he knew that I did love him”. Tony is survived by brothers Mitchell, Coby, Ivan and Sean-Liam, and his sister, Evelyn; father, Sean and step-mother Courtney Liska; and mother, Rebecca Carlson. He is also survived by grandparents Russell Gadberry (Kim), Dianne Jones (Jim), William Carlson (Beverly), Mary Curry (Gene); step-grandparents Geri Lester and Jim Liska.

Other survivors include uncles and aunts Steven (Cory) Carlson; Jeramy (Tanja) Gadberry and Melissa (Ian) Scott, as well as the countless descendants of the original settlers of Suce Creek, dating back to the Civil War. A memorial and celebration of Tony’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 13th, hosted at the Livingston Elks Lodge, the only available entrance to the Elks will be on Lewis Street. A reception will follow the service; contact Donna Pace, 406-220-1111 to arrange the potluck meal.

Though we’ll no longer hear the sound of Tony’s bright laughter, the memories of his short life will remain vivid and alive. Memorials may be made to the Livingston Sister City Program, P.O. Box 1415, Livingston, MT 59047, or the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
