OBITUARY Tristan Thomas “Tom” Kohl March 30, 1936 – December 22, 2018 Tristan Thomas “Tom” Kohl, 82, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22, 2018, surrounded with his family. Tom was born in Norton, Kansas on March 30, 1936. He grew up in Ness City, Kansas, and graduated from Ness City high school where he was awarded letters in several varsity sports, and continued on to attend Wentworth Military Academy.

He then served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of 1st Lt, before attending Kansas State University, where he received B.S. degrees in business and finance degrees. While at K-State, he met the love of his life Shari Krueger of Omaha Nebraska, and they were married on December 28th, 1962. They later moved to Midland Texas where they adopted their sons Eric and Kris, and eventually to Houston, Texas, where their son Wesley was born.

Tom worked as a banker for most of his career, as the Vice President of Loan operations for First City National Bank of Houston, Ben Franklin Savings and Mitsubishi International Bank. He enjoyed sailing, College Football and College Basketball. Tom is survived by who he referred to as “My three sons”, Eric Kohl and his wife Taran, Kristopher Kohl and his wife Kristin, and Wesley Kohl and his wife Carrie.

He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and other family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his beloved bride Shari, his parents Hugo Arthur and Gertrude Kohl, and his brother Hugo Arthur Kohl II. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 27th at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where a funeral procession will depart at 10:00 a.m. for Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, 77038.

Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery, with Reverend Betsy Sutherland officiating and military honors provided by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice.
