OBITUARY TULA B DAVIS February 19, 1919 – December 2, 2018 Tula Belle Love Davis, age 99 ¾ of Bradford, Alabama passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Formerly a member of Bradford United Methodist Church, she was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church since their church at Bradford was closed. At the time of their closing Tula Belle served as the Lay Leader and Sunday School Superintendent.
She had also served as an active Sunday school teacher and other different offices since she was a teenager. She later had to give up teaching her Adult Sunday school class at Bethel due to health conditions. She is a member of Boyles Chapter No.
104 Eastern Star Formerly of Ocolok Chapter No. 232 where she served as Worthy Matron with her son Jimmy Dale serving as Patron with her. She had nurse training at Carraway Methodist Hospital.
After her marriage she worked 25 years at New Berry’s downtown store. When she retired she was manager and buyer of the price goods department. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband after 48 years of marriage, Wellington “Wimp” C. Davis, and also her dearly loved sons, Clarence Jr. and Jimmy Dale.
They were her pride and joy. Also preceding her in death were her mother, Frances Magdaline Love and her father, Ollie Granville Love; the following brothers and sisters, Austin Love, Hiram Love, Dale Love, Carmon “Buck” Love, Maureen Love, Lois Love, Myrtle Bradford, Gertie Bradford, Madaline Ritch, Ester Green, Viola McCarty, and Martha McCrag. She is survived by a precious sister, Frances (Beauty) Todd, her loving daughter-in-laws, Nita Davis and Betsy Davis; Grandchildren, Robin Hand (Terry), Sherry Jones (Dennis), Jeffery Davis (Nancy), Westly Isbell, Teresa Isbell, Clarence Davis III, Chris Davis (Lauren), six great grandchildren, J.D. Yarbrough, Kim Cohen, Clarence Davis IV, Justin Davis, Matthew Davis, and Daniel Davis; Special-loving –dear friend, Jan Isbell; 1 great-great grandson, Aden James and one great-great granddaughter, Skye Davis; many very dearly loved nieces, nephews, friends.
Her family was her life. She loved to cook big meals and have them all over to enjoy. She baked cookies, made candy, and other goodies at Christmas which she shared with all her friends and neighbors.
Sharing with others was her joy in life. She loved her birds and flowers. And many thanks to all her dear church families for all the love they showed during her time of needs.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening, December 7, 2018 at Ridout’s Gardendale chapel from 5 until 8 PM followed by chapel services on Saturday beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, AL.
