OBITUARY Vanita Simmons Passed away on October 22, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Vanita E. Roberts Simmons was born January 22, 1926 in Wayland, Texas to Roland and Amie Roberts and entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2018 at the age of 92. Vanita graduated from Mexia High School in 1943, then attended Westminster College before marrying RB Simmons in 1945, a career military officer. Over the next 25 years the family moved with army assignment to Ft.

Hood, Augsburg Germany, White Sands New Mexico, Ft. Huachuca Arizona and Ft. Sam Houston.

The couple retired in New Braunfels Texas where Vanita was a member of the Church of Christ and worked at Robert Gill Company as a manager of microfilm. In 2012 she moved to Austin Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Major RB Simmons, son Robert Jerold Simmons, and sister Charlene Talbot.

She is survived by son Douglas and wife Linda Simmons, granddaughter Amanda McCann and husband Charles, sister Cherrie Magee and numerous nephews and a niece. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.
