Obituary for Vece Melton Dover Print Hickory Grove — Mrs. Vece Marie Melton Dover, 80, formerly of 2789 Howells Ferry Road, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Piedmont Medical Center. Born in Rutherfordton, NC, she was the widow of Finley Dover and the daughter of the late Lida Columbus Melton and Callie Lucille Philbeck Melton. Vece previously worked as a seamstress and was an active member of Hickory Grove Church of God, where she loved teaching children’s church.
Surviving Mrs. Dover are a son, Finley Ricky Dover and wife, Jeanette, of Hickory Grove; a daughter, Vickie Marie Dover Boyd and husband, William, of York; a brother, Billy Melton, of Clover; two grandchildren, William Daniel Boyd of York and Eric Lee Boyd of Sharon; and six grandchildren, Dallas, Autumn, Peyton, Bailey, Addielynn, and Briar Rose. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Finley Randy Dover, and a sister, Helen Merck. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 4, 2019, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove Church of God.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Michael Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
