Veller Ilene Sumter August 13, 1923 – April 27, 2019 Funeral services for Veller Ilene Sumter will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the 4th & Jackson Church of Christ in Hugo, OK with Bro. Steve Harbison officiating; burial will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK. Veller passed away April 27, 2019, in Hugo, OK at the age of 95.

Veller Ilene Sumter was born August 13, 1923, in Ft. Towson, OK, to John Wesley and Louise Leeper. She grew up in Stringtown, OK, moved to California, and then back to Hugo, OK.

She married her love, Fernley Aster Sumter, May 8, 1942, and were blessed with 40 years of marriage until Fernley’s passing. Veller was a member of the 4th Street & Jackson Church of Christ. She loved studying her Bible and watching Bible films.

She was a history buff and loved reading and studying history books. Veller also loved flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers and sisters, and one grandson, Johnny Mack Fuller.

Veller is survived by two daughters, Lynda Fuller, and best friend, Joe Fuller, of Hugo, OK, and Mary Warner of Arlington, TX; four grandchildren, Tammy, Bradley, Steven, Clinton; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, Devin, Jaci, Sean and Jake.
