Velma Arleene (Crosley) Smith, 89, of 31 N. Park Ave. , Meadville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Meadville Medical Center; she was surrounded by her family. Velma was born in Mosiertown, on July 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Carrol Glen and Blanche Dorothy (Davidson) Crosley.

In 1994 Velma retired as Secretary to the Divisional Claims Superintendent and Agency Director of State Farm Insurance Company where she had worked since 1977.

She had previously been employed by the former Gelvin, Jackson, Starr Insurance Agency. Velma enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. A 1946 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, she enjoyed playing the violin as a student.

A member of the Eat and Travel Club, she was also a member of Active Aging Line-Dancing Group, and a former member of Watson Run Womens Club and of Vernon Grange. She enjoyed dancing, watching the Lawrence Welk Show, playing cards and traveling. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed. Velma will be forever cherished by her survivors: a son Arthur C. Smith and his wife Kathleen of Mountain Top, a daughter Vicki Greene and her husband Jeffrey of Carmichaels, five grandchildren Andy Greene and his wife Jennifer, Matthew Smith and his wife Kristen Connolly, Jessica Roszak and her husband Steven, Rebecca Smith and her life partner AJ Cary, Gregory Smith and his wife Lauren Clanton-Smith, three great grandchildren Jackson Greene, Addison Greene, Riley Roszak and a sister Nina Marie Loucks of Linesville, a brother in law Bob Smith and his wife, Nancy of Saegertown, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, James, of 39 years, Velma joins her daughter Constance Jo, and two sisters Doris Isabelle Crosley Henry and Mildred Eloise Crosley Gosnell into eternal rest.
