Vera’s Obituary Vera Charles, age 96, of Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at her residence. She was born April 22, 1923 in Souderton, PA to Elmer and Vera (Hummel) Garis. Vera was a graduate of Souderton High School.

She attended Upland College, Upland,CA, where she received her Bachelor degree. She moved to Nappanee in 1969 from Iowa. Vera was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church.

On June 5, 1952, she married Landon Charles in Souderton, PA. He preceded her in death January 15, 2009. She is survived by her sons, Jim Charles, Seattle, WA, David Charles, South Bend, Seth Charles, Plainfield; daughters, Sharon (Paul) Reimer, Reedley, CA, Jan (Jerry) Marshall, Plano, TX, Phyllis (Nancy) Charles, Arlington, VA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ida Bencsik , Art (Harriet) Garis, Emily (Ted) Boyer, Shirley Fox, June Landis, Alma (Dick) Fulmer all of Souderton, PA, Elizabeth (Erwin) Whitley, Raleigh, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Faith Charles Gonsalves; parents; sisters, Esther Garis, Elsie Hyer; brothers, Elmer, Bob, Paul and Leroy Garis, Stanley Charles. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Brethren In Christ at 2 p.m..
