Vera Jean Yatsak September 28, 1930 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Vera Jean “Jeanie” Yatsak, 88, passed away January 27, 2019. She was born September 28, 1930 at the family home in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the fourth child of eleven born to Moses Allen and Esther May Barney.

Vera loved life and a good adventure from the time she could walk. She was a very independent person. She learned to work and work hard at a young age working alongside her family on the family farm in Rexburg.

Vera worked hard at everything she did from making clothes for her children when they were young, canning, needlework, working and operating her own beauty salon in Arizona then later in Rexburg. She worked hard at being a good mother, wife, and grandmother. She loved her family.

Vera married first, Jack Alton Whitmore November 6, 1947 at Driggs, Idaho. They were the proud parents of four children. Vera was left suddenly as a single mother at the age of 29 when her husband Jack died February 17, 1960.

In 1993 Vera met a man by the name of Mathew Andrew Yatsak they were married May 29, 1993 and together they enjoyed growing old together until Mathew died in 2010. Anyone who knew Vera would agree that she had a great love for music. She loved singing, yodeling, playing the guitar, and her organ.

She loved creating with her hands whether it was styling someone’s hair, crocheting, beading, or some other craft. She truly had many talents. Vera will be missed by all who knew her.

Vera Jean Yatsak is survived by three of her children; Jack Allen Whitmore of Athol, Idaho, Gayle Eileen Hubert of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Robert Paul (Diane) Whitmore of Athol, Idaho, along with two sisters Letha Dawson of Butte, Montana, and Linda June (Larry) Gould of St. Anthony, Idaho, and two brothers Dean Barney of Pocatello, Idaho, and Wayne (Norleen) Barney of Yuba City, California. She is preceded in death by her husband Matthew Andrew Yatsak, her father, and mother, along with five brothers Charles Allen, Robert Carl, Moses Dell, William Reed, and Don. She is also preceded in death by her sister Ruth Orr, and her beautiful daughter Rita Jean along with some grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday February 4, 2019 at Flamm Funeral Home at 61 North 1st East Rexburg, Idaho at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
