Vera’s Obituary Vera Eleanor Johnson Voog, 104, went to be with the Lord May 23, 2019 at a Sioux Falls hospital. She was born September 22, 1914 in Centerville, Turner County, South Dakota to parents Hans and Ella (Engstrom) Johnson. When two years of age, she moved with her parents to Beresford, SD where she grew up and received her education.

On February 27, 1935 she was married to Casper Voog at her parent’s home by Pastor Glenn Nelson of the Brooklyn Church. In October of 1936 the couple moved to Centerville, SD where they managed and operated the Gross Hatchery. In 1950 they moved to the farm and lived in the Centerville and Beresford area.

In the early 1950’s Vera accepted the Lord as her Savior and joined the Brooklyn Church where she attended her entire life. She was a Sunday School teacher, held several positions in the Women’s Missionary Society, and was active in the Church White Cross. In 1964 Vera started at Woodfield Center where she worked for 23 years.

In December 1975 she and Casper moved into Beresford. Following her retirement in 1987 they spent several winters in California. The also did a lot of traveling, visiting Canada, Europe and many places in the US.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Dennis) Reinholt of Costa Mesa, CA; her son, Ronald Voog of Mediapolis, IA; five grandchildren, Kathy (Richard) Wagner of Yorba Linda, CA, Dale Reinholt of Huntington Beach, CA, Duane (Brenda) Voog of Agency, IA, Andrea (John) Petersson of Bridgeville, PA and Nancy (Patrick) Koval of Burlington, IA; 10 great-grandchildren, Heather (Jeffrey) Carter, Grant (Brooke) Wagner, Emily Wagner, Laura (Craig) Pearcy, Derek Reinholt, Melody Reinholt, Rain Sissel, Jaden Petersson, Steven (Abby) Koval and Daniel (Samantha) Koval; 14 great-great-grandchildren, Lucy, Trevor, Chase, Troy and Bryce Carter, Jillian, Garrett and Isla Wagner, Reese and Blake Pearcy, Paige and Bradley Koval and Josiah and Annabelle Koval. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Casper, on January 26, 2006; her parents, Hans and Ella Johnson; her step-mother, Magda Johnson; brother, Robert Johnson, two sisters, Leona Sandval and Emma Larson; and her daughter-in-law, Louise Voog. Funeral services will be 10AM Friday, May 31, 2019 at Brooklyn Evangelical Church in Beresford.

Visitation will be 4-8PM Thursday, May 30th at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 5-7PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
