Verdie Harris Harding, 84, of Laurinburg, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Morrison Manor. A funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Malpass.

Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11-12 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Born June 24, 1934 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Wardell and Fronie Dial Harris.

She retired from Scotland County Social Services and was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. She volunteered at Lumber River EMC as well as Meals on Wheels, was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and along with her husband, became a member of the NC State Beekeepers Association. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William “Bill” A. Harding of the home; daughter, Cynthia Harding Phillips (Stephen) of Angier; brother, Horace Harris (Inez) of Dunn; sister, Letha Locklear (Gene) of Laurinburg; grandsons, Stephen Phillips Jr. (Sarah) and David Phillips; and great-grandson’s, Jack Phillips and Charlie Phillips.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Patty Harris, Paul Harris, Frank Harris and Daris Harris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 11480 Hasty Rd. , Laurinburg, NC 28352 or Scotland Regional Hospice, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
