It is with most sincere sympathy that we formally announce the passing of, Deaconess Verna A. Williams of Cairo, Georgia. Deaconess Williams passed on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Archbold Medical Center, Thomasville, Ga. Mrs. Verna Ann Hunter Williams Daughter of Mrs. Mary Lee Hunter and the late Mr. Willie James Hunter was born in Grady County Georgia on April 2, 1957 and was called home to Heaven behind her father on May 9, 2018.

Mrs. Williams attended Whigham City Public schools were she graduated in 1976 and then furthered her education at Fort Valley State College. Fort Valley, Georgia. She was an educator in the Grady County Schools for many years and excelled in Retail Sales until her health failed.

Verna left a positive effect on every person she encounters. She brought light and life to the room when she entered even when she was not well. Her smile could soften the hardest of hearts.

At an early age Mrs. Williams confessed her life to Christ and joined Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend H. B. Jeffery. Later she moved her membership to Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Church Secretary and an ordained Deaconess. Verna Ann Hunter Williams married Deacon Larry A. Williams on November 2, 1985.

She is preceded in death by her father Deacon Willie J, Hunter and Brother Bonnie L. Hunter. Mrs. Verna Ann Hunter Williams leaves to cherish her husband of 32 years Deacon Larry A. Williams of the home; three sons, Rev. Mordecai Hunter (Sarah) of Clinton N.C., Dewayne Hunter (Stacey) of Fayetteville, N.C., Alton Williams (Latifah) of Cairo, Georgia.

Hunter of Whigham, Georgia, Father-n-law and Mother-n-law, Ernest and Martha Williams, Cairo, Georgia; Two Brothers Mr. Lonnie Hunter (Barbara) of Albany, Georgia, Mr. Curtis Hunter (Stephanie) of Suwanee, Georgia; Three Sisters, Mrs. Retha Byrd (Ret. SSG Leon) of North Port, Florida, Dr. Mirrial Moses (Timothy) of Hephzibah, Georgia, Janet Stevens (Ret. Col, Wayne) of Columbus, Georgia; Six Grandchildren, Tiara, Ray J., De’stajah, Keyana, Alton Jr., and Macai; Two Step Son, One Step Daughter, Three nephews, Three Nieces and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousin, relatives and/or Friends.
