Obituary for Victor Nicholas DeCario DeCario, Victor Nicholas It is with great sadness that the family of Victor Nicholas DeCario announces his passing, on Friday, June 29th, 2018, at the age of 76 years. Born to Vincent and Agnes (Donato) DeCario in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the family moved to Miami when he was a child and Victor remained here as a lifelong resident. Victor was in the first graduating class of Christopher Columbus High School in 1959.

He then attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, was a member of Gamma Phi Kappa fraternity, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1965. He met the love of his life, Elaine Ann Amico, in 1959 through family friends and they were married in 1964 at St. Dominic’s Church in Miami. They settled in Boston and had their first baby Stacey Ann.

After graduation, Victor moved his family back to Miami for a job with Miami Dade County. Victor had a successful career which included working as part of the planning team on the Miami Metro Rail project, being a member of the Florida Engineering Society and served as both the Miami Chapter President from 1981-1982 and State President from 1993-1994, a member of CEPA and served as President in 1978, as well as a member of Tau Beta Pi and Mensa International. He enjoyed a successful career at Post, Buckley, Schuh & Jernigan, Inc. and then started his own computer consulting firm, Victor N. DeCario & Associates, Inc. in 1987.

Victor was a devoted family man, who enjoyed life with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a passionate cook and loved to spend time at the dinner table with his family. He loved to travel, go to the beach and enjoy a good cigar.

Nothing was more important than his wife Elaine who he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage with on August 1st. His personality was larger than life, he loved being a father of girls and was loved by all who knew him. This world will be less vibrant and exciting without him.

Victor will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine, and his daughters Stephanie (Gary) DeCario-Ward, Susan (Thomas) DeCario-Crossin and was predeceased by his daughter Stacey DeCario-Infante. Victor will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Erik, Katherine Rose, Joseph, Jack and James, and his brothers Richard and Raymond as well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews and loving family. A viewing will be held from 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM, on Thursday, July 5th, 2018 at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, Fl 33176.

A mass will be held at 10:30 AM, on Friday, July 6th, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 7377 SW 64th Street, South Miami, Fl 33143. The burial will immediately follow the mass at Woodlawn Park South. Victor’s family wishes to thank the many fine doctors and nurses who gave him excellent cardiac care during his long illness.
