Obituary for Victoria Baker Victoria Baker, age 69 of Fort Pierce Florida, died peacefully on November 28 after a short-lived battle with pancreatic cancer. Victoria, also known as “Vicki,” was born on November 16, 1949 in Lake Worth, Florida to her parents (James and Beatrice Blackledge. ) She married the love of her life, Robert Baker, on April 24, 1971.

Together, they moved to Michigan where they would spend most of their married life before heading back to Florida in 2002. They built a beautiful family through the years and were married for 47 loving years. Victoria worked many years as a medical transcriptionist.

Family always came first. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader. She also enjoyed reading, movies and crossstitch.

She is survived by her husband Robert, her five children – Dorthi, Bobby, Shari, David and Lyle, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her three sisters and many other loved ones. Heaven has gained another sweet angel. “Gone From My Sight” I am standing upon the seashore.

A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, “There, she is gone”. Gone where? Gone from my sight.

That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side. And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me — not in her. And, just at the moment when someone says, “There, she is gone,” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes! ” -Henry Van Dyke Funeral arrangements are as follows: Haisley Funeral Home 3015 Okeechobee Road Fort Pierce, FL 34987 Visitation: Monday, December 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service: Tuesday, December 4 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be sent to Treasure Coast Hospice treasurehealth.org/ways-to-give/donate/ To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Victoria Baker please visit our Sympathy Store.
