Vincent W. Piccola Sr. Vince died peacefully and with dignity on Friday, November 16, 2018. He lived an active and full life for 90 years. The last three years, he struggled with Neuropathy and Mobility but continued to fight.
He was born in Beaver Falls, PA on April 4, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Frances Lynch Piccola, wife Ruth Capo Piccola, and his son, Vincent W. Piccola Jr He is survived by his wife, Martha, son Scott (Darlene) Piccola, Port Orange, Fl, daughter Linda (Jim) Romaniszyn, Jodie (Scott) Faith, Peachtree City, Ga.
14 Grandchildren, 9 Great grand children and his beloved lap buddy, Bippy He graduated from Geneva College in 1956 at the age of 28 with a wife and three children there to see him receive his BS Degree. His Father was an Immigrant from Italy and Vince watched him struggle working in the steel mills and chose not to follow that route. He was an avid and talented Golfer and spent many happy years on various golf courses with his family and friends.
He was a member of Dalton Golf and Country Club and served on the Board of Directors. His prized Golf Trophy was his Senior Championship Winner. One of his passions was the Roman Open Golf Tournament held annually at DGCC.
He served 25 plus years as tournament director and lived long enough to see the Proceeds from that Tournament increase dramatically over the years. Those Proceeds were given to local charities and were a Godsend for their causes. Even though he was born a Yankee, he adopted the Southern Lifestyle with vigor.
He called Dalton his home for 40 plus years. He was always amazed at the caring and gracious ways of we Southerners. He vowed to never shovel another flake of snow!
The Family extends Thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and compassionate caregivers at Hamilton Medical Center, Ridgewood Manor. and to all who reached out to us with calls and visits. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday.
December 1st at Christ Church Presbyterian, 510 S. Tibbs Rd. , Dalton GA. Visitation at 12:30 pm, Service at 2:30 pm.
This time frame will allow those of you who attend to return to your Comfort Zone and be in front of a TV for the SEC Championship Football Game. We spent many happy hours watching college football. Until he became Immobile, he volunteered at the Center. We will miss him, treasure the memories, but accept that his death is a walk on the Path that we all call Life.
