Viola “Vi”‘s Obituary Viola “Vi” Marie Dummer, age 88 of Fremont, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont following a short illness. Vi was born on December 21, 1930 in Muskegon Heights to Evart and Jenny Drost and later married James “Jim” Dummer on July 20, 1957 in Fremont. Vi had been an x-ray technician and nurse’s aide at Gerber Memorial Hospital prior to her retirement.

Vi is a member of the Church of the Living Christ in Fremont and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed walking and cross country skiing, jigsaw puzzles and reading. Vi especially treasured the time she spent with her family and following her grandchildren’s activities. Vi is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim of Fremont; her children, Kevin (Penny) Dummer of Fremont; Sheryl Newton of Hastings; her grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Buikema of Grand Rapids; James Dummer of Traverse City; her sister, Alice Poll of Fremont; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law’s, Barbara Dummer of Fremont; Gerald Dummer of Canadian Lakes; Dale and Dianna Dummer of Lansing; Thelma Dummer of Warren; many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION : Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, May 3, 2019 at 2pm at the Church of The Living Christ 605 Hemlock Street Fremont MI 49412. INTERMENT: Maple Grove Cemetery.
