Roberts, 93, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:50 A.M., Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Geneseo, IL. Virginia was born March 4, 1925, in Du Quoin, Illinois, to Joseph Sims and Elsie (Wright) Alvis. Virginia was known for her work at the Southern Barbecue and Mallory Manufacturing in Du Quoin in the Forties and Fifties.

She was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed her home, especially being able to cook for her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Don Roberts, one brother, and one daughter, Debbie Coffland. She is survived by her son, Kevin and his wife, Emily, of Osco, Illinois; her step-daughter, Linda (Roberts) Aboussie of St. Louis; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin. Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
