Obituary for Vivian Irene Smith (Allen) Vivian Irene Smith, 93, of Johnston City, passed away at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in Herrin Hospital with her loving family by her side. Vivian was born July 13, 1925 in Jonesboro to Willis and Clara (Nichols) Allen. She married Herbert Smith on September 6, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He preceded her in death on December 12, 1999. Together they shared 58 years of marriage. Vivian was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering with TCT Christian Television Station in Marion with 25 years of service as a prayer partner.
She also helped her husband with their mowing business for many years before he passed away. She attended All Nations Church of God. She loved to go out to eat with her family and take car rides on the back roads out in the country.
Her family was her greatest enjoyment. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include three sons, Charles (Linda Kay) Smith of Johnston City, Harry (Gay) Smith of Killeen, TX and Dale (Sue) Smith of Marion; nine grandchildren, Christopher Smith of Johnston City, Brett (Tammey) Smith of Marion, Kimberly Smith, Cabot Thomas of West Frankfort, Tammy (David) Garcia of Henderson, NV, Jolynn (Rosha) Joyner of Henderson, NV, Nathan (Tiffany) Smith of Crab Orchard, Jeremy (Tana) Smith of Murphysboro, Ashley (Elliott) Mummert of Johnston City; twelve great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev.
Donnie Colson officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., on Saturday at the funeral home.
