On January 21, 1951 Vondia Johnson was born with a twin sister Irma Johnson 2 minutes apart to the late parents of Curley Theus and Julia Hardin. They were the first two children of the three born to Julia Hardin. Vondia was born in Shreveport, LA and at the age of 5 years old moved to San Francisco, CA.

She graduated from Washington High School and after high school she was employed at the San Francisco working for Mayor Diane Feinstein. She later moved on to work for Muni for a few years, and then went to work for the Hall of Justice. She transferred from the Hall of Justice to the San Francisco traffic and parking department, where she worked for over 20 odd years and was blessed to retire from.

After retiring she remained close to many of her traffic co-workers and often visited her old job and co-workers alike. Vondia enjoyed bowling and cooking for her loved ones. Her specialty was baking.

She brought a smile to all who had the pleasure of being around her. Her green and grey eyes amazed many people, but also scared some. LOL.

She joined church at an early age and later joined St Matthews of Livermore and became apart of the usher board. She was one of the head cooks of the feeding ministry where they fed over 1000 people last year. Vondia departed from this life on May 8, 2019.

She leaves to mourn in her passing her 2 sons Kavin McCoy and PhaTerrell Haley of Oakland, CA, one brother Vernon Johnson of Texas, 8 granddaughters Jeanita McCoy, Kala Swesha McCoy, Kaisha Lai McCoy, Lavonda McCoy, Precious McCoy, Kavina McCoy, Lauren McCoy, Michelle McCoy, Demesha Jones, and her only grandson Kavin Wayne McCoy Jr., two nephews from her twin sisters Steven McCoy Sr. and Easop Winston Sr. Seven great grandkids, Kyree and Antanae Hardye, Tevin Bishop Jr and Kayani Bishop, Demarea Barker Jr. and Ma’riana Barker, and Kayden McCoy, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and loved ones. She’s preceded in death by her mother Julia Hardin, and her father Curley Theus, her sister Irma Johnson, her son Demarchie Jones, her nephew Rodney Hampton. We will always love and cherish her deeply in our hearts.
