He is survived by his devoted wife, Keiko; son, Brian (Alice), three loving grandchildren, Audrey, Alana and Clayton; sister, Rose Kiyomi Takamiyashiro and many nieces, nephews and extended family in Hawaii. He is predeceased by his first wife, Martha; sister Chiyo, and four brothers, Stephen, Allen, George and Thomas.

A private funeral service was held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Holy Cross Mortuary Chapel in Culver City. He was the second oldest son born to Jitsujin and Ushi Takamiyashiro in Honolulu, Hawaii. Growing up in Honolulu, he eventually found work in Pearl Harbor where he met his wife, Martha.

They married and moved to California in the late 1950’s. Brian was born in 1958, and their family eventually settled in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles. Wally was very adventurous; he loved fishing off of the Redondo Beach jetty and enjoyed camping trips with his family up the coast to as far away as British Columbia.

Martha passed away suddenly in late 1977, which left a void for Wally and Brian. Wally worked for many years as a machinist, welder, and all around fabricator for a small business, which designed and built custom automated machines. The growth and success of this business endeavor allowed him to retire early in the late 1980’s, giving him well-deserved time at home.

A few years after retiring, Wally met Keiko Kamekawa, and they were married in 1989. Wally and Keiko were married for nearly 30 years. They kept each other company at home and attended various classes at the Venice Japanese Community Center.

They also enjoyed meeting new friends at the local Okinawa Club and took several trips together to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Japan. Wally was always willing to help his family. Whether it was to move a piece of furniture or rewire a failed electrical connection, he was there with one of his specialty toolboxes and the knowledge to solve any problem.

His family will miss hearing all the amusing stories from his youth and all the interesting experiences he encountered on his many unique work projects. We are thankful for his 90 years of life, and will miss him dearly.
