POGUE, Walter Lee was born on August 17, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama to Samuel L. (deceased) and Mary (Jackson) Pogue. He passed on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his residence. He resided in Cincinnati, OH a number of years.

Walter was the third of 11 children, Elsie (Leon) Waters, Sam (Mary) Pogue, Janie Mae Starkley, Barbara Ann Washington, Wilhemina (Jesse) Whitfield, Kirk Jackson, Jackie (Amy) Jackson, Delores Hope, Regina Eubanks and Belinda (Solomon) Thomas. Walter married Dorothy M. Pogue on December 2, 1977 and moved to Dayton, OH. Together the couple raised six children, Cheri Cook, Willie F. Cook, Sharon (Michael) Pogue, Tony Cook, David Pogue and granddaughter, LaDonna (D’Juan) Walton.

Walter and Dorothy have five children, 13 grandchildren (3 deceased) and 19 great grandchildren (1 deceased); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One of Walter’s favorite scriptures was Psalm 139 and in the event of his death he wanted it mentioned to encourage others. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 10 am until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior.

Interment West Memory Gardens.
