Visitation for Walter Edwin Moerbe Jr., 82, of La Grange will be held Monday, February 11, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Gary Janak officiating. Interment will follow in the Shaw’s Bend Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fayette Memorial Funeral Home of La Grange 967 E. Colorado La Grange, Texas 78945. Walter was born June 11, 1936 in La Grange, Texas to Walter Edwin and Ester Schneider Moerbe. Walter served his country in the Texas Army National Guard.

He was employed by Entex Gas Company as a town representative and serviceman. Walter was a professional middle-weight boxer from 1957 to 1961. He served as a volunteer fireman in Palacios, TX for 20 years and was twice named Fireman of the Year.

Walter passed from this life on February 8, 2019 in La Grange, Texas. Walter is survived by his wife; Elaine Schobel Moerbe of La Grange, 1 Son & Daughter-in-Law; James & Patti Moerbe of Blessing, Texas. 1 Daughter and Son-in-Law, Kim Elaine and Rick Welnack of Cedar Park, Texas, 1 Brother & Sister-in-Law, Harvey & Janet Moerbe, 1 Sister, La Verne Rainosek, 2 Grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Torres and her husband Eddie, and Kyle Christopher Moerbe, and his girlfriend, Jordan Rickaway, 2 Step-Grandchildren, Mathew Welnack and his wife Kathleen, and Megan Welnack, 2 Sisters-in-Law, Mary Ann Zatopek, and Dorothy Franta, 1 Brother-in-Law, Keith Schobel, and his wife, Karen, and 4 Step-Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Alfred and Mary Schobel, 1 Brother Elwood Moerbe, 3 Brothers-in-Law, Billy Franta, Eddie Zatopek, and Daniel Rainosek, and 1 Niece Tammi Franta.
