Wanda’s Obituary Wanda Delores Yerge was born on July 24, 1931 in Twin Branch, West Virginia and passed away May 14, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Russell; cherished mother of Gayle (Richard) Yerge-Cole, Russell Walters (Janet) Yerge; dearest grandmother of Sarah Jane (Matt Mullen) Cole, Russell Mason Yerge, Heather Terese Yerge, Darrell James Yerge and step granddaughter Kristi Kay Marshall; loving great-grandmother of Mya Evangeline Lukasiewicz; adored sister of the late Elmo Hart “Corky” Walters, Jr. Wanda was the daughter of Elmo Hart Walters and Freda Anthony Cook. She was the daughter of a coal miner, and family moved to Michigan in 1944.

Wanda graduated from Denby High School in Detroit and also attended Stevens Finishing School. Wanda enjoyed healthy cooking, gardening, ballroom dancing, tennis, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, painting, sewing and was a talented artist. She loved passing on her knowledge and skills to her children and grandchildren; while combining her passions with her love for the Lord by assisting with ministry through Ward Church Pioneer Girls.

The Yerge Family will receive guests at the funeral home 2:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, May 17th. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 11:00 am also at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Ward Presbyterian Pioneer Girls, c/o Ward Church 40000 W. Six Mile Rd.
