Wanda Gail (Botkin) Hodge, age 62, of Churchville, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at her home and surrounded by family. She was born October 1, 1956 in McDowell, a daughter of the late James Edward and Edna Louise (Hevener) Botkin. Mrs. Hodge retired as a nursing aide with Western State Hospital after 35 years of service and until recently was employed as a school bus driver for Augusta County Public Schools.

She will be remembered for her love of being outdoors, often camping and especially time spent mowing her lawn. Additionally, Wanda enjoyed playing cards and cornhole, as well as attending truck pulls to watch her son, Kevin and volleyball games to support her granddaughter, Katelyn. Above all, Wanda was “all about her grandchildren” and will be missed greatly this Christmas, which was her favorite time of the year.

Surviving family members include her loving husband of 41 years, Jerry Mack Hodge; sons, Jeff Hodge and wife, Katherine of Verona and Kevin Hodge and wife, Jessica of Deerfield; grandchildren, Katelyn, Kara, Brooke, Morgan, and Logan Hodge; brothers, Johnny Botkin of Verona, and Jimmy and Ricky Botkin both of Staunton; sisters, Linda Simmons of Franklin, WV, Carol Nuckoles of Staunton, and Sharon Altizer of Verona; as well as a special niece, Kim Sheffer. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Shawna Hiner officiating.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
