Wanda Lee Martin Newkirk 81 of Ashland passed away Sunday, December 23. 2018 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Wanda was born March 26, 1937 in Grayson, Kentucky to the late Nathan and Katherine McMillian Martin.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Charles Sanford “Chucky” Newkirk; two sisters Phyllis Disney and Mary Blanche Snow; and one grandson David Jobe. She leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years Charles E. Newkirk; one daughter Sharanna Jobe of Ashland; two grandchildren Amanda Jobe and Stephen Jobe; one brother Nathan Martin Jr.; five great grandchildren Nicholas Jobe, Katelyn Jobe, Shaylee Howard, Joseph Howard and Myles Jobe; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Cemetery in Hopewell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 at the funeral home and one hour prior to service Thursday.
