Warren Day Stroud, 81, was freed to eternity Friday morning on October 5, 2018. He was born November 11, 1936, in Teague, Texas to A. E. and Estelle Stroud. He accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was six years old.
He lived in Fairfield, Texas where he graduated from high school in 1955. In high school he was in Future Farmers of America, where he raised a Blue-Ribbon Hereford steer at the Freestone County Fair. He played first chair cornet in the high school band for four years.

He attended college at North Texas State College (now University of North Texas) from 1955-1960, graduating with a degree in Business Administration in the field of Marketing. Warren was a member of Delta Sigma Phi.
He met the love of his life in August 1959 on a blind date. He told everyone she kissed him first and asked him to marry her! In January 1960, he joined the Air National Guard and later was called into basic training.
Warren and Carolyn were married for 58 and a half years and were blessed with three children: Susan Elizabeth, Jefferey Allen, and Stephanie Ruth. Warren was an active member at First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff for over twenty years. He was a member of the choir under the direction of Dan McClinton.
He loved being part of the Living Christmas Tree and leading music in his Sunday School class. He was ordained as a deacon in January, 1991. He was privileged to be chairman of the deacons and took that position very seriously.
Warren and Carolyn joined Farley Street Baptist Church March 4, 2007, and were active members in the choir, Sunday School, and SAM’s group. Warren’s career path really began in 1973 when he went to work for Stokely-Van Camp as a Regional Sales Manager. He was most proud of helping put Gatorade on the market.
In 1989 he joined Allen Canning Company and was successful working with food brokers until he retired in 2000. In his retirement, Warren worked in the local Home Depot doing Trane Air demonstrations as an employee for J&S Air. In those seven years, people believed he worked for Home Depot because he knew where everything was, but most importantly the store became his platform to share Jesus with everyone.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and his beloved son Jeff Stroud. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughters, Susan Golladay and her husband Chris, and Stephanie Donato and her husband Mark, and his adopted by love children Gary and Mary Grohoske. He was blessed with six grandchildren Austin Stroud, Joshua Donato and wife Hannah, Shelby Stroud, Mykaela and husband Cole Chlouber, and Samantha Donato and Ashley Golladay.
Warren Stroud was greatly loved, will be extremely missed, and will always be cherished. Our Papa – as his grandchildren called him, was a good husband, father and deeply loved his grandchildren. Services to celebrate his life, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Farley Street Baptist Church, with Brother Richard Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park in Duncanville. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
