Wesley’s Obituary Wesley H. Johnston, 98, of Duluth, formally of Chisholm, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in Essentia Health – St. Mary’s in Duluth. He was born May 17, 1920, in Grand Rapids, MN, to Frank H. and Delia (Ledoux) Johnston. He was a Chisholm High School Graduate.

Wesley was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as an aviation flight engineer. He was united in marriage to Lois Thorp and resided in the south suburbs of Chicago for 63 years and was an active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Chicago participating in CFM and youth ministry programs. Lois and Wes also served as house parents for the Glenwood School for Boys.

He worked as a wire chief with Illinois Bell phone company for many years before retiring to Chisholm. After returning to Chisholm he married Vi Costanzi. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He loved spending time at the cabin on Big Sturgeon where he enjoyed fishing and giving boat rides. Wesley survived by his wife: Vi; 3 daughters: Mary Lynn (John) Costello, Kitty Johnston Petrow, Jackie (George) Goes; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters: many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois, infant son Martin Wesley, 2 sisters Gloria, Patricia. Visitation Friday May 10, 2019 from 9-10am at St. Jude Church 241 W 2nd Ave.

New Lenox, IL 60451. Funeral Mass 10am. Internment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
