Wilbur “Leon” Hopkins, 82, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018. Leon was born April 28, 1936 in Woodsfield, Ohio to Archie and Dolores Hopkins. He was employed by Consolidated Freightways retiring in 1995 with over 45 years of service.

He and his wife, Margaret enjoyed traveling together, bird watching and being with their children. Leon had a passion for woodworking, gardening, growing flowers in the greenhouse, and teaching his children new things. He was a perfectionist, a hard working provider, a tinkerer who was quoted as saying, “It’s already broke, might as well try to fix it” and a loving Dad, who was always available to help his children.

Leon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret; children, Mike (Kim) Hopkins, Terri (Allen) Mandel, Paul (Connie) Hopkins and Gary (Kerri) Hopkins; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Norton EMS, Hospice of the Western Reserve and Copley Health Center for their kindness and support of Leon over these past few months. Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd.

Norton on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Don Ebert officiating. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44110 in memory of Leon.
