Wilda’s Obituary Wilda Jones Coldiron Moon passed away on January 12, 2019 at The Retreat in Beaufort, South Carolina. She was born on October 10, 1931 in Longville, Louisiana to Elizabeth Izora Pettus and Chappell Bolivar Jones. She was a 1951 graduate of Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Following college graduation with a Bachelor of Arts, she married Donald Charles Coldiron in Longville, Louisiana. During their courtship, they sang for a local radio station in Lake Charles. They then moved to Oklahoma where she began her teaching career in 1952.

Due to Don’s career in engineering, they moved in 1954 to Baton Rouge, La. She taught school in Louisiana for the next 36 years. She taught at College Oaks, Nelson, and Oak Park Elementary.

Through the years, she was adored by all of her students. She was married to Don Coldiron for 25 years; then, she married Colonel Theodore Moon in 1980. Wilda enjoyed cooking, dancing, and social events and was always the life of the party she hosted.

She had the true gift of hospitality. Wilda loved to travel. She traveled to several countries with Col.

Ted Moon, Billie Morris, and Wanda and Arnold Coldiron. In recent years, she joined St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patsy Brame, her husband Col. Theodore Moon, and her step-son, Teddy Moon.

She is survived by her children Nancy Coldiron Ferry (Steve), Kimet Charles Coldiron (Susan), and first husband Donald Charles Coldiron. She has five grandchildren: Bryce Ferry (Jenni), Elizabeth Coldiron, Matthew Coldiron, Brogan Ferry, and Brynna Ferry. She also has two step-children, Diane Greene and Tommy Moon, and a step-daughter-in-law, Sharon Moon.

In addition she has five step-grandchildren: Ashley McComb, Shanelle Hargroder, Alison Moon, Marisa Moon, and Hailey Moon. She also has two step-great-grandchildren Te’a McComb and Christian Hargroder. Also dear to Wilda are her nieces and nephews: Kaye Martin, Kirk Brame (Gail), Leah Rudek (Norbert), and Scott Brame, and her great-nieces and nephews: Caroline Martin, Emily Martin, Brent Brame, Jake Rudek, and Anna Rudek.

Pallbearers will include Scott Brame, Matthew Coldiron, Bryce Ferry, Tim Flavin, Robert Seals, and Tim Tregle. The family extends their sincere thanks to the nurses and therapists at Maison de Lafayette and The Retreat. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 26th at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles at 11:00. Visitation will be at the church at 10:00 that morning prior to the service. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.
