Obituary for Willa Hinton Willa “Willie B.” Hinton was born in Deeson, Mississippi on October 2, 1943. The eldest child of Annie Mae and Allen McCoy Sr She came to Chicago, Illinois at the age of 4 and was raised by her grandmother Lucy Woods-Lofton.

She was educated at Hartigan Elementary School and was a proud graduate of Wendell Phillips High School and Wilson Junior College. She was well educated, and kept a vast library of books. On March 9, 1971, Willa married Raymond B. Hinton “Big Brother” and their union was blessed with four children.

Willa had a strong belief in God. As a young woman she began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. She later dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized her dedication through water baptism.

Willa enjoyed being in the ministry and speaking to others about the hope she had, that one day the earth would be a paradise with no sickness and death. She was a regular pioneer/full time minister and was able to attend pioneer school. Her greatest happiness was when her husband Raymond joined her in serving Jehovah.

Willa B. was small in size, but had the personality of a giant. She loved to cook from a very young age. Those who knew her knew those Barbeques in the backyard would have half of Luella Park asking for a rib tip or chicken.

Believe it or not, she loved jumping Double Dutch and playing video games. She spent hours on the phone with her mom Annie Mae, friend Addie Newsome, best friend and sister-in-law Ramona Seals. She loved playing cards with her husband Raymond, sister Effie and grandson Carey “Carey Beary”, and her laughter with Brittany and secret communication with Jason and Keith.

On August 15, 2018, Willa fell asleep in death. Willa was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; father Allen McCoy Sr.; siblings Lucy Lee (her twin), Georgianna and Steve; grandmother Lucy Woods-Lofton; and sister-in-law Ramona Seals. Willa “Willie B.” Hinton leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Annie Mae McCoy; children Tiffany Hinton-Hoskins (Edgar), Allison Hinton, Lori Hinton and Germaine McCoy; step children Antoinette Hines (Johnny), Leonard Hinton and Kimtynia Alexander; three grandsons Carey Sr., Jason Sr. and Keith Jr.; two granddaughters Brittany and Amanda; two great grandsons Jason Jr. and Carey Jr.; two great granddaughters Cherish and Dayo; and many step grandchildren; her siblings Allen Sr. (Ann), Effie Burnice, Dennis (Dana), Don (Brenda), Fayneatta Redmon and Malcolm (Millicent); her brother-in-law Tyrone “Mike” Wilson; sister-in-law Mary “Peggy” Shields; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, two special young ladies that she loved Juanita Green and Iesha Townsend and Dunlap family and Gregory Montgomery.
