Obituary for William A. Rico William A. Rico, age 94, of Powell, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Born in 1924 in Flushing, Ohio, he is proceeded in death by his wife of 68 years Mary, his parents Joseph and Mary Rico and his brother Louis. He is survived by his sons Paul and Jim and nephews Dave and Lou.

At 17 William joined the USMC after graduating from Newark High School in 1941. He served in the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific campaign at Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian among many other locations until 1945 in WWII. He was decorated with two Purple Hearts.

After the war he worked as an electrical apprentice in Chicago. In Columbus he worked for Hatfield Electric and Turner Construction on many of the buildings of the Columbus skyline including the State Office Tower, Convention Center, AEP and many others. After retiring, he worked as an electrical inspector for Dublin into his eighties.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept 29, 2018 at 11:30 at the Chapel of Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center. Father Stephen Smith will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Delaware County Animal Shelter in his memory.
