His parents, who predeceased him, were the Honorable Joseph L. Hurley, former Lieutenant Governor of the State of Massachusetts and later Superior Court Justice, and his mother, Celeste J. Mary (Potter) Hurley, and their four daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Grudinskas and husband Derek, Elizabeth Iandoli and husband Daniel, Mary Hession and husband Michael, and Josephine White and husband Michael, all of Cohasset. He attended Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton, Massachusetts. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester in 1955, after which he worked for the National Labor Relations Board of the Federal government. He was a lover of classical music and appreciative of jazz. As a devout Catholic, Bill attended daily mass, and he enjoyed gathering with friends after church. He was a history and sports enthusiast with a warmhearted spirit who was known for his friendly and outgoing nature.

Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Interment Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.

In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Bill may be made to the Cohasset Education Foundation (CEF) at cohasseteducation.org.
