William Augustus Louis was born on November 19th, 1946 at Victoria Jubilee Lying-In Hospital in Kingston Jamaica, to William Adolphus Louis and Hermione Joyce Louis nee Willoughby. As a young child, because of his good looks and affectionate personality he was called “Teddy” in short for Teddy Bear. Young Teddy was an energetic, vivacious and curious boy.

He grew up in Rea Town Kingston, where he attended St. Aloysius Catholic school for boys. After leaving primary school, he attended St. Andrew Technical school where he was introduced to the field of hydraulic engineering. Teddy showed great promise in the field and was hired by the National Water Commission at the tender age of 17.

Due to his expertise and natural ability to build and maintain hydraulic water pumps, Teddy was promoted and given a scholarship to the University of Technology (formally known as CAST, College of Arts Science and Technology) by his employer. There, he studied to broaden his understanding of the field taking several courses in water re-distribution systems and designing hydraulic systems. Teddy worked hard and completed all courses earning certification in each area of study from the university.

Teddy’s influence and dedication to the National Water Commission was so impactful that even after retiring from the company, he was re-hired as a consultant on contract to repair and maintain hydraulic water pumps across the 14 parishes of Jamaica. On a fateful day in 1973, Teddy and Carole Jean Gayle met through a mutual friend. The attraction was instantaneous, and they soon became close friends.

Teddy immediately became a loving father to Dawn. The couple remained inseparable and soon welcomed Jessica. The relationship continued its natural course and led to marriage on September 24, 1977.

They later welcomed Shauna and Melissa completing their wonderful family. Their beautiful union stood the tests of time lasting for nearly 42 years until Teddy’s passing. Teddy also fulfilled the prayers and desires of his loving wife in accepting the Lord.

He was baptized at the Newlands Foursquare church, St. Catherine Jamaica in 2005. There he remained a faithful member until he migrated to the United States. After emigrating to the United States, Teddy continued his walk with the Lord, faithfully attending Revealing Truth Ministries in Tampa, Florida where his daughters Dawn and Jessica are members.

Teddy was a friendly person who never met a stranger. He was a loving and thoughtful husband, a caring, compassionate father and father-in-law, an attentive grandfather, a good listener, advisor and confidante. He was always positive even when the odds were daunting.

In his later years, as he battled many health challenges, Teddy’s indomitable spirit never wavered. His children began to affectionately call him “Titanium Man,” for his ability to bounce back from health-related challenges no matter what the prognosis. On Friday April 26, 2019 while at the Tampa General Hospital after a long and arduous battle for his health, Teddy finally decided to rest.

He was surrounded by his loving family. ~Teddy was Loved by Many and will be Missed by All~ Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife, Carole Jean Louis; daughters, Dawn, Jessica, Shauna and Melissa; sons-in law, Neville, Geoffry and Jamaal; grandchildren, Ebony, Essence, Makayla, Kaley, Camron, Seth-Aaron, Zyah, Jenna, Ethan, Aaron and Xion; great-grandchild, Alyssa; sister, Penelope Brown; aunt, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
